Default Time Sensitive: Inspecting a c1785 Log Cabin in VA

We are having difficulty finding someone in Northern Virginia who specializes in pre-purchase inspection of older log cabin homes. Any leads or advice will be appreciated! Our home inspection contingency deadline is Wednesday, July 11 at noon.

BACKGROUND: We're considering the purchase of a home built in the late 1970's, with an attached two-story circa 1785 log cabin that was reclaimed from Luray, VA. We've already had the conventional portion of the home inspected by a licensed, trained, and respected home inspector. But we want to make sure we thoroughly cover our bases with the log cabin portion of the home.

I'm curious why your "licensed, trained, and respected home inspector" didn't inspect the cabin while he was there?
Go to American Society of Home Inspectors, ASHI and do a search for a home inspector in your area. You might get lucky on short notice.

He included the log cabin in his inspection, but because of the more unique charateristics of an old log cabin, we're also interested in consulting with someone who specializes in those structures. We already searched the American Society of Home Inspectors, ASHI website for those with a specialty under "Log Homes," but there's no one with that specialty listed anywhere near our location. From watching this message board we know there are some folks out there who are knowledgeable about log cabins (e.g., Scott Patterson from TN), and was hoping someone might be able to link us up with an inspector possessing those specific credentials in our area. Thanks for replying to our post.

Mr. Thompson and Mr. Adair -- thanks for the leads and the responses. We may need one or both them going forward, depending on how these negotiations turn out. We'll be sure to convey your regards.
