    Default AC condensate drain crock/pit

Attached photos are from the basement of an early 70's home on a level lot with a septic system. The ac condensate line drains directly into this pit. Did not see any drain tiles terminating here. As seen in the photos there is no pump. AC has been running and draining to pit for an extended period of time but with no standing water or odors. I have not run across this type of drain before. Some type of french drain?? Any thoughts?

Likely the condensate just seeps into the ground.
However I always suggest a pump be installed because there is no guarantee that the pit will not fill up and overflow even if there are no weeping tiles entering the pit.
