    Default PEX?

    Is this allowed?
Metal strapping wrapped around PEX supply line then nailed to floor joist

I was thinking this was not allowed but did not find anything in the IRC

I do not know of any PEX manufacturer that allows metal strapping. They all make their own clips/holders to hold the PEX. The strap will cut into the PEX over time as the pipe moves, expands and contracts.

Probably not addressed in the IRC. That would be in the manufacturer's installation instructions.

That stuff is impressive. Strong, durable and tough. It can withstand an amazing amout of pressure. I doubt steel perf tape would hurt it, but logic dictates it's not a good idea.

    Garry,
Not so much an issue of cutting through, but an issue of wearing through as PEX flexes over time from expansion, contraction and vibrations.
