Default Chimney build - anyone have a problem with this?

I don't know that I have a problem with it...but I've never seen one built like this before.

From here, the chimney passes through the roof decking and is about 5-6 ft higher than the decking. Unfortunately, I was not able to climb that portion of the roof to be able to examine the chimney up close.

I'm thinking those flue tiles look like Isokern and were not made for that, but ...

... as I was searching trying to remember the spelling of Isokern, I found this: http://earthcore.co/images/manuals/2...dardFL-Web.pdf - see page 4 and page 28 (page 28 shows a "brick ledge"). Also shown on pages 36 and 37, maybe other pages too.
