Default Which Inspection Software to use!?!?!

I know homegauge, home inspector pro and a Palm Tech have gotten good reviews.

Has anyone ever used EZ Inspection or Inspector FX?

    How do they compare?

    Thank you!!!!

I guarantee many inspectors groan when they see another thread asking about inspection software. There have been a number of threads on the subject and everyone has a personal favorite. I have been a HomeGauge user for 9 years. Get a free free trial of the software here: https://www.homegauge.com/

I personally like the software for a number of reasons including upload & download templates from the cloud between computers, ability to embed video clips right in the report, secure upload archived with offsite storage, great customer service, inspector & HG staff message board, automatic time release messaging (for following up with clients & agents), Companion version for tablets and smartphones, on-line scheduler, and a force payment feature to name some.

    .
    I'm groaning with Hank. I'm a 3D guy.
There are a lot of good compaines that support and see the value of this site.
Check and try them them out 1st to see what works best for you.

One important thing to remember. Despite what they may claim NONE of them are completly ready to use out of the box. It will take you several hours at the beginning and countless hours creating narritaves over the years making changes to the narritaves to fit your inspecting style, and making sure you meet the standards that you will be using.

Dan really hits the nail on the head on both statements.

I would stay away from the Inspector FX site, it's showing dangerous downloads and Norton blocks the site when I try to open it.

Couldn't agree more with Hank and Dan, even though it's years later. Technology has improved quite a bit over the last few years, so try out the ones that look like they have solid desktop and mobile apps and help grow your business.

Being the one of the newer kids on the block, we think we've drastically cut down the time it takes to customize your template or import your narratives. But hey, gotta see for yourself!

Horizon, If you publish a mistake you have to delete all your narratives.
You can not edit any one letter of the alphabet, a typo, or complete narrative.
Everything is saved or you are forced to delete everything is you wish to form new narratives.

Other beefs, but I am truly disappointed.

Maybe they will change their software so you can delete or edit saved narratives or edit a typo.
Until then, I am trying something else.

    Robert,

What I do, and maybe you do to is Preview Report and proof read. Any correction required I go back into report and change and save. Also as you may know you can also change My Comments under Profile and edit whatever you have placed there.

Fwiw Horizon Report has a Facebook page where you can get realtime help, and other users comments.

    Best,

    Best,
    Raymond, I do exactly that.
I preview my reports on a regular bases.
I even cc the report to myself first and read it.
I do let on or two typo's get though.

I enjoy tweaking narratives. Most home inspectors do.
Tell me what home inspection report provider does not allow you to edit saved narratives without deleting all your work and starting from scratch.
Come one Ray. That is bloody senseless.

Not understanding how you delete your boilerplace simply because you're editing. Anyway. thats good that you have a back up to go to.

    Best,
Boiler-plates are another story. No issues there. You can edit at will.

As well, I love the complete business system, do not get me wrong. Everything is under one roof.

It's the reported structure, system and component narratives you use building your narrative library, Ray.
Remember, not all homes are the same.

Example: One of my system narratives. Underlined are mine.
Observation: Electrical DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM \ Outlets (receptacles)
Condition: No GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters) Location/s. Kitchen.
Recommend a licensed electrician ensure all kitchen outlets are GFCI protected.
    Act upon any recommendations therein.
    Implication(s): Electric shock
    Location: First Floor Kitchen
    Task: Provide
    Time: Immediate

Any/every one typo, spelling error or brain fart narrative remains.
If you wish to delete any one typo, spelling error or brain fart narrative all the narratives you built all are deleted.
Again I will revisit the help menu.
