    Default Soot in new fireplace

We have a gas fireplace that is less than 2 years old and every time we run it we have a large amount of soot build up. When we asked the company about it they said that it was "burning off impurities" and will stop when they have completely burned off.
We have burned it for MANY hours and the soot never gets better. Could there possibly be another issue that is being overlooked?

It sounds like the flame is not adjusted properly.

Or the logs are not set properly and are impinging the flame which then cause the gas to not burn properly and cause the soot.

Thumbs up Re: Soot in new fireplace

    Scott,
It worked, thank you! Your simple answer solved a 2 year old problem! I had the flame set high because they were telling me I needed to burn off the impurities! Thank you again!
