    Default wrapped soil pipe

100 year old house. Photo is of soil pipe that has some kind of wrap around it labeled "Carhartt". I'm thinking there was a pipe repair where they had to chop out some concrete, and then before repairing the concrete they wrapped the pipe, as a kind of bond breaker.
Anyone have any better ideas, or know why it's labeled "Carhartt"??

They do make a duck/duct tape with their name on it.
Silver Duct Tape with Carhartt Logo 30 ft Roll | Duck Tape

I wouldn't assume anything about why someone wrapped tape around the drain pipe.

I'd assume a leaking pipe and a cheap DIYer-selfer repair.

If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

Cast Iron pipe does not require any wrapping on it even under cement. There is no professional reason to wrap a pipe with duct tape or any other type of tape. As said already more than likely a DIY repair for a leak or a hole in the top of the pipe.

I hear that repair method is very common in and around Port Asbestos , Canada. The only Official Repair method fully endorsed by those of the Lodge at Possum Lake Plumbers Guild. Their motto is: If the Inspectors don't find you handsome, they may as well find you handy"...or something like that...Eeh!
