    Default Scoping Sewer Lines

Once upon a time, I used to say that while plastic sewer lines can have problems, it's a low probability. Now, if asked, I say that they can have problems, too and the only way to know for sure is to run a scope.. Some of the guys I know that scope sewer lines have found disconnected plastic lines (once at the tap in a very expensive new construction), sags, belles, crushed, and breaks at the foundation walls.

But in the photo there is something different.
In a fit of DIYer logic, someone had taken a piece of pipe and wedged it between the drain line and the floor above in the crawlspace. Apparently, they were trying to push the sewer line down to improve the drainage. Over the years, the pressure has deformed the pipe, creating this circular dimple on the inside and creating a restriction. You can see fractures in the dimple.
