    Cool Re: Make it Fit

Why worry? From the curb you can see the flue tile so you can report this chimney is lined....

Keep the fire in the fireplace.

Looks like about half of the chimneys I see (and I'm sure you guys see)...It's a "shortcut" for proper height.

    It's OK. Just don't light a fire.

    Question What would you recommend?

Ok, so we've all had our fun with this. Now, I'm curious what would each of your recommend in your report?

Keep the fire in the fireplace.

From the bit that we can see here, with metal cladding nailed to it? It's not worth the cost of relining.

Billy, does that model Cat come with rubber treads? I don't think the town would appreciate the footprints that thing will leave on the road.

Anyway, I'll bet a rope and a pickup could topple that mess and it's pretty short, too.

That chimney actually vents a gas furnace and gas water heater (no fireplace). My report stated the absence of a flue liner in that section and bricks that improperly constrict the inside diameter of the flue. Have serviced by a masonry chimney professional and all repairs made as needed.

John your method would leave all the mess the chimney is attached to.
