    Default Firewall code question

    DSC08376.JPG
Hi All, Saw this material in the attic of a garage. The wall is the back of a 2nd floor bedroom. Besides the few holes in the material which I'm write up. My question is basically this, can this material be use for firewall separation. You can read the warning in the larger image.

    Any input would be great.

I like to thanks in advance to does that responded.

If the ceiling of the garage is completely drywalled, then I don't believe this wall requires fireproofing.

No, what is shown is not a firewall.
It was likely put there to secure and cover the insulation.

Not enough information to say if a firewall may, or may not be required on that wall.

To expand on what Raymond said:
Not all drywall is a firewall.
So even if the ceiling of the garage is dry-walled, that does not necessarily mean the ceiling is also a firewall.

You raise a good point. The term firewall is misused quite a bit. So is the term fore-rated.
