    Very interesting article Brian, Too bad they didn't point out the intrinsic problems with the home that were causing the mold.

    Yes, it would be nice to know what was supporting the mold.

    They say it was an old mill house, I wonder if it was near or over a water source. Many mills were built right over a stream to provide the power to turn the equipment.

    I took "Old mill house" to be, a house built by the mill for housing of their employees. Not an old mill that is now used as a house. But to be sure I looked on Google map for Whitten Street in Greenville, SC, there was no indication of water nearby.
    FWIW Columbus has several hundred "old mill houses". These houses were built from 60-100 years ago, simple in design, and are most often built in rows.
