Default Electrial in share wet wall

    Hello
I'm a retiree with background in industrial construction codes, safety inspection, OSHA, TASCA, etc. I am starting my home inspection business and I am new to residential codes. I am inspecting an addition of a bathroom that will be sharing water, drain with an existing bathroom. The electrical for the new sink will have to be installed on the shared wall of the existing shower. The new circuit is GFCI, but placing electrical in a "wet wall" (a wall where water could possibly leak) was not allowed in industrial applications. Is it allowed in residential? Shouldn't the electrical be run in water tight fittings?

    Thanks

    Welcome.
If the residence in question is in Louisiana I would check with the local jurisdiction. No matter which parish your in, they all seem to have their own set of rules. Anywhere else, its ok for electrical lines to share the same wall cavity as plumbing. Of course, no splices in wires, pass thru studs and such separately. Not considered a wet location.
