    Default Sensor for AC

Not much central air here, and I wasn't sure what I was looking at here. There is some type of sensor bulb loosely clamped to the tubing just outside the air handler. Anyone know what it is, and why it is there?

    TXV...

    added in edit:
The original TXV was likely replaced. It would have been located on the evaporator.
The replacement TXV may not have fit or was just to much work to put it in the same place, so they put it outside the case. As long as it's the right size, should not make much difference, but it should be wrapped in insulation.

It should also NOT be loosely clamped, it needs to be tight.
