Default A/C Installed with no permit

I found out that the a/c in a home I am purchasing was installed by the seller without a permit. It seems to work fine per the inspection But is there a way to get it inspected and show installation was up to code?

Call your city inspector and pay for the permit.
Or just have a competent licensed technician check it out.

    Yes, that is correct.

No - No - No - that does NOTHING to address the issue of it not being permitted ... and that could come back to bite you in the backside at any time.

Not sure about the permit laws in your jurisdiction, but in MD, DC and VA a Mechanical / HVAC permit can only be obtained by a contractor with a Masters HVAC license.

I believe Jerry's point was you need to have the local building inspector (department) issue the permit . Calling a contractor alone does not get you the permit
