Appears to be fiberboard siding. Sometimes referred to as asphalt siding. Generally a fibre based backing sheet with asphalt impregnated covering. Typically identified with a concern when exposed to fire and fire spread. Of course not to forget about it's deterioration qualities over time depending on actual construction and proper wall construction detailing.

Regarding asbestos content - this can only be determined by further evaluation lab testing.

Despite its name, Insulbrick has "very little insulating value."

Insulbrick can be considered the forerunner toaluminum siding. Remember the sixties? Remember the movey Tin men. Danny DeVito. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyxTV5QXgZw

Insulbrick consists of a fiberboardsheathing coated with tarand sprinkled with granular material. The surface is embossedto look like brick, or sometimesstone.
