    Default What Was It?

This one had me stumped: Hydronic heat, but expansion tank is in the basement ceiling, and when I see piping for tanks removed from old open systems, it's always near the center of the the attic. No reason to suppose it might have been supply or DVW (through these was some galvanized supply and DWV in this house) and certainly no need for gas supply up there. The newer conduit has nothing to do with this.

    Suggestions?

I have run across a few hydronic systems where the expansion tank was located in the attic originally. This could have been eliminated when it went bad and relocated to the basement. Just a thought...Jeff G

What Jeff said - check the basement.
