Wiring hanging from joists
2006 build. I thought you needed a 1X6 to attach wiring to floor joists in this manner. Never seen this type wiring in 20 years of inspecting.

As is, the installation doesn't pass muster. If, however, a ceiling is installed, the cables fastened to the bottom of the joists might be OK. The exact code wording says that the joists have to be drilled or running boards used in an unfinished basement, and exactly what constitutes a finished basement is open to interpretation.

Re: Wiring hanging from joists
Jerry,
There is a grounding clamp and wire on the black gas piping where the piping exists the interior foundation wall. I don't know why an additional clamp was installed on the csst piping itself. The joint in the ground wire is soldered.
