Hello Forum,

I?ve been in the field of design, construction, inspection and project management for 40 years. Recently retired from the Federal Gov, where I worked for National Forest Service, National Park Service, and General Services Administration. I am a PE with a background in structures, civil, environmental, and forestry. Always enjoyed learning about the workmanship standards of the trades and mostly learning about the ?why? things are done the way they are. Seen many changes over the years from using lead and oakum sewer pipe to seeing vast improvements in building insulation and vapor barrier techniques. I remember having to check the pipe fitting trades to be sure in the 80?s they had switched their solder from 50/50 to 95/5. I learned to be thankful if a job was union because then you knew you had well trained and apprenticed tradesmen. Working on some national monuments that were over a century old I also learned to respect the excellent work of past tradesmen who were masters of their craft.

Hope to provide some beneficial input to forums and advance the craft.
