Default Flue Pipe on this Gas Water Heater

I don't think this would be acceptable, because there is no 90 degree turn on the flue pipe coming up from the water heater ?

    Sam,

I am unsure as to why you even used a question mark at the end of that sentence. I halfway believe that you posted this as an April Fools prank.

    Tape is not acceptable.
Requires a fitting of some kind.
Doesn't look like the single-walled flue pipe has screws.
Looks like the large gas vent pipe is sloped the wrong way.

    No. Not acceptable.

Agree all points as usual Gunnar. Also, if you look it up in the sizing charts at less than 3 feet vent rise, must be 4" vent connector. If this goes to a listed liner then wall shield ok. If not, need cleanout within 12" but then again, I've never found a heater flue that didn't need a liner.

Keep the fire in the fireplace.

Arrgh! Bob, you always find at least one thing that I missed!
