    Default New Member Introduction

Hello, my name is Vernice Toliver. I am a retired structural engineer. For one of my employers I inspected residential timber structures. Issues encountered and reported included:
    • foundation differential settlement
    • undersize window and door headers
    • Improper nailing for shearwalls
    • improper materials
    • improper curing of structural concrete
    • excessive spacing of timber studs, floor joists, and roof trusses

I am looking forward to learning from present members and responding to threads where beneficial.

    Welcome Vernice,

Always like to see engineer participation in certain topics, so I'm glad you're here.

Vernice, I'm interested in hearing to what extent these errors could have been avoided had the builders followed code requirements, IBC or IRC or what-all.
