    Default direct vent?

This indoor air handler is located in a hall closet. I did not notice any combustion air supply, but 2 PVC vents were present. I am assuming that one of them is for supply air, and that this is a direct vent system. Any thoughts?

Ron, were you able to locate the two pipes on the outside of the building? If so you can turn the unit on to see if exhaust comes out of one of the pipes. Anytime they put a unit in a closet it needs exterior combustion air for the heat side. Some municipalities will let it go if the closet has a full louvered door. By the way you say it's an air handler, so is it only providing cooling and heat is supplied by a boiler?
The other issue I see from the photo is that the 90's are DWV fittings. Ok for combustion but not generally accepted for venting. Are you sure it's not poor plumbing venting?
    Good luck, Markus

I think Markus was referring to the fact that you didn't mention a furnace. There is a gas furnace there, right? Not just an air handler.
