    Default Chimney offset in attic

The 1840 antique I inspected this weekend had lots of interesting details.
Here's one that really amazed me.

I couldn't wait to post this one.

Not one crack in the mortar joints and no crumbling brick! They just don't make em like they used to!!

those old homes are precious-----besides the roof -what is supporting that smoke stack---also loved that house ground---guess they failed to obtain permit and inspector to code check that----how you charged enough---1840---is off my price list--even here in boulder co

Thanks Ken for posting that. Yep, they don't build like that anymore..... thank goodness.
I ran your photo through Adobe Elements-4 for a better peek. Really, everything in that attic is a gem! I can only imagine the disclaimers?

Ken - what did you recommend in your report?

Michael - Jerry and Bob gave some excellent advice in that linked thread. Now that you are no longer in the heat of the debate, have you reconsidered your stance?

I'm going to continue the technical discussion by posting in the other thread.
