    Default pool unusual staining

I found staining at the sides of this pool. It had white clumps of what looked like a calcium build up and darker staining falling below each of these clumps. They were scattered around the sides of the pool below the water line. I have never seen it before. Anyone know what i am seeing? Photo hard to see. The area is in the top right corner of the picture.

    Jerome,

It looks like what I have just gone through with our pool.

    Calcium.

You could probably drain the pool and acid wash it and be done with it.

White plaster is notorious for such problems.

"darker staining falling below each of these clumps"

    Rust?

From steel, ties, etc. being too close to the surface.

    Jerome,

We just had our pool replastered last week due to those same type of stains. Just a couple of days and around 5500. and it looks completely different.

    Jerry,
That was my concern. I do not think that is what it is, but I am not going to make that call at this point. I know it needs fresh marcite and I dont want them to find structural issues when they go to remarcite the pool. They will ask me why i did not warn them, so i suggested a pool contractor take a look at it.
