Default Hot Water Heater TP valve drain pipe

    Hi, This is Manzoor
I have recently seen that in new homes they are using a flexible copper pipe in the drain line of the TP valve. I had always thought that this pipe has to be solid copper, steel or cpvc. Has any one else experieced this ? Is it code compliant to use flexible pipe?

Those flex type copper lines are reduced and not 3/4in. inside diameter as required.

    Therefore they are not acceptable.

Thank you for pointing out the reduction in the diameter of the pipe.I am surprised that the code inspectors don't consider this a problem.
