    Default Stone Chimney Flashing Question

    Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone out there has any knowledge about stone chimneys. Specifically the flashing around the base of them? What is the best way to properly flash a stone chimney? What materials should be used? I have not ran across too many of these (most are brick out here in Indy) and need a little help. Any photos you have to share would also be great.

    Thanks guys!

Here's one I looked at the other day (racoon damage to roof shingles). The chimney is cobblestone. It's flashed similarly to brick, although lead tends to form better around the uneven surfaces. Prior to the racoon damage, it didn't leak (Yes, I know, there's no cricket).

Blame me if you want, but it was the cricket who did the damages.

Thanks for the pic Steve! Looks like that Racoon had a time of it up there
