    Default Auxiliary condensate switch

You can't always rely on electrical switches to perform as intended. Many do fail.

Pan was full of water and the unit was still running like a screaming banchee.

    Rick,

Setting aside the other items visible in that photo (missing trap, missing secondary line and trap, etc.), that is precisely one of the problems I have with the new code (ICC codes and the Florida codes based on the ICC) is that those switches are not an option to the secondary drain line actually going somewhere and draining to a pan - the secondary is now allowed to end in a switch and relies on that switch to shut the units down. Plus, there is no require anti-freeze switch which would shut the unit down before the coil ices up, so now the unit shuts down, the secondary is dead ended into that switch, the primary is clogged, the melting ice become water which ... yeah, goes where? ALL OVER!

Stupid is as stupid does, but, *it meets code*.
