    Default Funky eletrical stuff

Hey guys had an inspection on a flip that was bulit in 1923... the service box has several questionable items... there are two 50 amp breakers attached to the bus and then back wired to the bus... any ideas for the reason? Also called out the service heads... do these look Kosher? Also do call out no main breaker on something this old. thanks Bill

That's a split bus Federal Pacific panel. Most of us would call for replacement just because it is Federal Pacific.

Looks like Aluminum wire also. Ditto John Arnold.

I see stranded aluminum, but not solid.
Also, looks like there is a non-FPE breaker, but that might be a good thing!

That's the split bus. It's kind of like two panels in one. Usually the 240 circuits are on the top, and the branch circuits on the bottom being fed from a 240 above.
If you search on "split bus" in the archives you'll find a bunch of threads about it.
