Default Old Building Codes - New Member

I am a licensed inspector in central North Carolina and have been reading this forum for about 3 years and finally decided to join.

I have become interested in old building codes and am looking for an on-line source. These can be National, regional or municipal. I realize the ICC and the NFPA sell CDs but does anyone know of a free on-line source?

    How about this one!!!

The Code of Hammurabi (also known as Codex Hammurabi) is one of the earliest and best preserved law codes from ancient Babylon, created ca. 1760 BC .

#229 If a builder build a house for some one, and does not construct it properly, and the house which he built fall in and kill its owner, then that builder shall be put to death.

#230 If it kill the son of the owner the son of that builder shall be put to death.

Do a search for Code of Hammurabi. Quite interesting!

Har har Wayne. I think that he might be interested in something a bit more current. He said old, not ancient.

    Wilson....You want "AD" old?

The NC DOI website has links to several previous versions of the building code going back to 1936. I wish they had whatever came between 1978 and 1997 (when I started collecting them):
