    I wouldn't want to dance on it but it looks like it has been there for a while.Long before codes.Any cracks on the plaster ceiling?

    That's an interesting way to take the sag out of a ceiling. 1900's house doesn't have to comply with today's code. UNLESS
    As far as comlying with today's code. No it does not.
    But, if you wrapped that knob and tube around those metal hangers, maybe, NYUKNYUKNYUK
