Default Corrugated metal roofing for concrete form.

Inspected 1979 house today that has corrugated metal roofing for concrete form of the wrap around porch. Several of the metal sheets are hanging loose at the edges in the crawlspace beneath the porch. I've never seen thin gage metal roofing used as concrete form before. There are no visible cracks in the concrete but don't know if there is a problem with the loose metal. It looks like support forms were removed after the concrete was poured and sheets that were overlapped were not held in place by the concrete adhesion.

    Any thoughts appreciated.

    Is is corrugated metal roofing?

It is relatively common to use corrugated metal as a form under suspended porches just north of you in Raleigh. Usually it is a heavy gage metal.

    Vern,
I would be more concerned with the lean in the pier .
    * if were a wooden form left in place I would advise removal ( metal no. )

Ya Billy I got the Italian pier. I have seen many raised concrete porches in this area, but the metal looked much heavier and was never hanging down after the supports were removed. Is the decking structural or just a form? Does it take the place of rebar? Other than tearing your coveralls is hanging down a problem.

    Vern,
Have been inspecting in Rock Hill? I see a lot of these over near the college, but most of those homes were built in the 60's and they usually look just like your pictures (with a lot more rust). Can't recall any of the concrete being cracked, but it is scary when you have crawl under one.
