    Default Cider block floors with concrete floor joist

    House built in 1948, has anyone ever seen this before. Its a first for me , house was solid as a rock, bunker..

    Looks like pre-cast spancrete to me.

    Was the previous owner Italian or Portuguese?
    In the East Vancouver area, they like to construct decks with concrete rather than our native wood.
    A few years back, an entire home I inspected was concrete & terracotta tiles.

    Like you say, solid as a rock.
    That's how we make them back in Portugal. Great for the hot dry climate but not so good for our Canadian Climate and as you said in your link..."Clamy!"

    I inspected a house with concrete floors and metal joists. It was built in the 40s and the builder was a commercial construction specialist.
