    Default Cracked howe trusses

Do not see howe trusses often and take lots of pictures.
    Circa 1953 bungalow.
Gable roof. No drywall cracking. All door and windows operated above the damaged trusses.
In 1998 Quebec had an ice storm. Much damage.
Power outages lasted over a week, some without power for 3 weeks in rural communities.
Several webs were cracked along the length.
    Thoughts?

I see trusses all day long around here, every type imaginable, and frankly, I never try to ID the root cause of the cracks or failures. Could have been a load of new shingles dropped too hard, a former owner storing engine blocks in the attic (yes, have seen it), or whatever.

I just mark the area (if necessary) to avoid the phone call "...we can't find the cracked trusses...", report it and move on.

    Dom.
