Re: Enclosed Porch
"My question is this, can a slab 4-6 thick slab properly support the superstructure?"

Forget the thickness of the "slab", think "thickness of the footing".

Does the "footing" meet the required thickness and width required by the code?

The answer is "No, it does not."

Re: Enclosed Porch
And........ depending upon where the property is located, the footer has to be 2x as wide as the foundation wall, and below the "frost line" which varies by region.

Re: Enclosed Porch
Most patio and porch slabs do not have reinforcing and are not designed to carry the loads of a structure. Plus, as Jerry and Victor noted, no footing = no good.
