Black Mold on Framing Lumber
I see this quite often and don't comment on it. Like so many other things in this business, I know I heard/learned something but can't remember where. What I remember is that it's really not a problem. That it's just on the lumber as it comes out of the mill and is basically dorment or extinct once it dries after construction.

This may be something inherent to the soggy Pacific Northwest. What do you guys think about this?

The reason I'm asking is I heard from an agent today that another inspector called out a bunch of it and got some people totally freaked out.

Re: Black Mold on Framing Lumber
Matt,

That stuff is on most wood. I think it occurs when the wet/green wood is stacked. No problem with it as far as I know.

Thanks guys... that was pretty much my recollection. As the years go by and it's been some time since I learned something it's nice to make sure I'm still on track.
