Default New type of floating foundation- flood areas

Has anyone seen or heard of this type of foundation before. Looks like we will have our work cut out for us if we need to inspect anything like this. Hope the link to MSN video news works.

    Cool!

    But some questions:

    - How is it tethered in place so it does not float away to the next state or out to sea?

    - How is the plumbing connected to allow for supply and sewage line break-a-way without spewing water or sewage?

    - How is the electrical service connected to allow for break-a-way without shorting and ground-faulting out?

    - How ... way too many questions come to mind ...

Looks like a good idea. I have a better one. Don't build your home in a flood zone

Jerry, they drive pilings like for a dock into the ground and the house rises and falls with the storm surge. Now if the pilings fail as I suspect they will, there will be floating houses craching through the rest of the neighborhood with some crazy lady on the bow with a harpoon looking for the white whale that sold this thing to her.

Those windows look like they might withstand 20 to 30 mph at best.
Billy should be inspecting some of these soon. I'm sure he will have some good comments for us.

    Wayne,

Which is why I pondered as to how they are tethered in place.

It is one thing to have "rising water", a completely different thing to have "moving water", i.e., in a wave, wake, any water moving at any velocity (V flood zones) ... I suspect the scour would take those pilings out in short order.

Nonetheless, though, what about my other questions regarding the plumbing and electrical hook ups?

That pilot seat hammock is pretty cool. Visibility's not so hot, tho. Maybe put the trailer upstairs?
