Old porch question
Why is it that in so many older homes at the area under the porch the foundation wall has been removed. Why do you need access to the space under the concert porch?? I see it alot.. just wondering.

Here's the one I saw today. Sorry I only got a corner of the hole but can see what I mean. The house (1940's) had never been trated , go figure, but just had this big old hole. Even my house has one. The call here ( in the pic) wasn't for the hole but rather the band joist.
