I see them once in a while, but usually in the attic. I have seen one or two in the sink base cabinets though.

Under conditions of use in the 2nd document see:

    Each Studor Mini-Vent®, Maxi-Vent®, and Tec-Vent™
shall be located a minimum of 4 inches above the
weir of the fixture trap when providing trap seal
    protection for fixtures or branches.

It looks like that might make the minimum required height, it is also well within the 15 degrees of vertical it is required to be, has adequate space around it to allow for its removal and replacement, however, it is require to have pipe thread tape around its threads and that looks like pipe dope - which is not allowed.

You can see the ending of this statement: "Pipe thread tape only."

    Aaron,

I look at every one for pipe thread tape.

For many years the plumber's used nothing, nada, and I wrote them up as not being sealed (all fittings and joints are to be "sealed", so they started gluing them in place (not only is that not 'pipe thread tape', but the Studor Vent is ABS and the piping was PVC, you should not use PVC cement on ABS ... so they started using pipe dope ... the dopes ).

I had already been pointing out that they all state "Pipe Thread Tape Only", I had to teach the plumbers and municipal inspectors that "Pipe thread tape only" means, ... well ... "Pipe thread tape ONLY" ... NOT 'pipe dope' and not 'PVC cement'.
