Anyone ever seen a deck guard post flashed like this?
There is no actual decking on the roof, obviously, yet.

Can't say I have seen one done like that. If they place any wood on that (looks like roll roofing) material it will puncture it in a short period of time.

I would like to see that post isolated and not wrapped in anything.

That will be a leaker down the road if it has not already started.

Looks like modified to me, but, yes, it is flashed improperly.

Let that wood shrink and crack and you will have water going down INSIDE the flashing, and the flashing will do a nice job of keeping the water inside the flashing and the roof covering, rotting out whatever it comes in contact with.

As a possible improvement to BB's graphic I would insist upon the top of the flashing being installed in a kerf cut around the perimter of the post.
