Is there anything against having exposed supply plumbing and waste plumbing in the ceiling of a closet? I don't know why they did it but they did it.

I can't think of any reason it would be a problem.
But!!!!
The PEX is not supported properly and it could be easily damaged by something being pushed up against it. The lines really need to be protected from damage.

Well, truth be known we skipped church today because we have that dang H1N1 bug in the house! I'm hiding in my office upstairs!
For some reason I have been granted a pardon by the flu god so I get to take care of everyone else! Wahoo.....

And you will be rewarded by catching it just as you are ready to go to work.

In addition to what Scott said, the ceiling needs to be sealed around those pipes.

RS: I would say, right off hand, that common sense would prohibit an installation like that . . .
Did the owner have a sign like this posted on the front door?:D
