Oh My Goodness,
Guess they got tired of the fuses blowing.
at least they used electrical tape

John,
I was referring to the wire pieces jumping between poles of the fuse and not the tape alone. The tape seems to be holding the wire jumper to the fuse.

maybe they figure if it overloads it willl arc at the ends of the jumper wire, thereby blowing it away and eliminating the connection...................................or, they're just not real bright

Look at the bright side. The wire will burn in two before the pieces of copper pipe I usually see used in place of the fuses.
